For participating in a mini-scene you have been awarded 1 CCP! Make sure to note it down yourself. Keep it up! After barely escaping with your swarm, your vermin return to your lair. It may not have gone the way you wanted, but you got some valuable information out of it. What do you do for your day-time phase?

One word. One directive. GROW (edited)

(Right! As we established previously, you will be guaranteed 1 swarm now, but I like the slight possibility of a double acquisition. It's a real long shot, but roll me verminmancy. If you get a 19+ you get 2 swarm charges!)

Rolled!

(Rolled an 11, so not enough for a double. Also, to be clear, the chance of a double can only happen when you first fail a roll, so as a sort of potential catch-up mechanic.)

Ah, right! Forgot! I want my servant to scout out the Rue Church!

Aha... Well then...
Your Servant detects a magical signal in the area, but not before seeing absolute chaos in the area. People are punching each other left and right, Fire hydrants have been destroyed and are spraying water into the air, birds are pecking whatever they can see, random shouting of non-coherent sentences. It's all a lot to take in, and your servant is randomly punched by a man with a chair from out of nowhere. It quickly deals with the man in a matter it sees fit, but has suffered 20 points of damage. What does your servant do? Does it attempt to investigate the signal or does it flee this chaotic scene?
(Actually, make that 10 due to your trait!)

Hmm... I have a meeting here... I'd better investigate...
But carefully!

Your servant presses on, and takes notice of many similar scrawlings, runes and other random totems strewn about that it has dealt with in previous nights. This place is littered with them! It investigates the church and sees many crazed priests running around like madmen, but is able to evade their attention. Inside the church you notice the same person you saw back at the docks, placing the totems. He seems to be preparing something in the church, occasionally having to fight off a crazed priest. One of your rats accidentally falls off the swarm and makes a little squeak. The man wearing a priest's garb turns to look at your servant, squinting his eyes... But is unable to see anything and turns back to his work. Your Servant barely evaded notice.

Does your servant do anything at this point?

Keep out of sight, keep watching, and if it sees any opportunity to mess with any of the sigils and/or totems without risk of detection, do so.

It won't be able to, as it would take an entire action just to start doing something about this whole mess. The entire sub-district is in absolute chaos. As night approaches and it is time to leave it gets spotted by the large creature you also saw at the docks. It seems to have returned from doing something in another district. It charges at you and it is only barely able to escape with some minor injuries. Your Servant has lost an additional 40, halved to 20 health, so will be at 30 less than max during the next phase. It will recover fully by the next day unless it takes more damage in the coming phase.

Actually meant to clarify something. Combat between mages is prohibited during the Day time. Does this not apply to servants then?

So there can be mini-combat sessions during the day. Usually due to NPCs fighting you or similar, like you just had. You generally can't die during those, but you can be put into critical condition if you don't escape from it. Lost health will be restored only after the upcoming phase so losing health during the day can make fighting in the night phase a tougher call.

Alright, gotcha!

Having given your directive, the rats spread throughout the district, growing the swarm. (You now have 3 charges of rats.) Your servant returns, somewhat battered and several rats fewer. You link your mind with them to see what happened and are informed of the events of the day. What do you and your servant do for your night-time phase?

Gonna be making those speaking rats, and make sure there are some in each swarm, as well as in my servant. Can I make my servant grow in number, and thus in strength?
Avatar
Cindurion 01-Dec-21 11:27 PM
Hmm, I would say so. You could spend rat charges to increase his stats. Not entirely sure how yet, but should be a thing!
Avatar
Suri Kerrington 01-Dec-21 11:29 PM
Also, I guess I should ask. Approximately how many rats is a rat charge?
Avatar
Cindurion 01-Dec-21 11:33 PM
Like with many things in this system, it's a bit fluent. We're talking somewhere between 20-100, depending on what we need it to do
Were you wondering for anything specific or just curious?

Just curious

So here's what I'm thinking with your Servant, right? (This is merely a suggested and can be negotiated) Your servant has the stats it has. It can receive a +1 mod to all stats except for any stats which are affected by armor, instead gaining -1 to those. These mods increase its HP and AP unlike normal mods, due to it increasing in size. This means it can have up to 2 swarms attached to it at any time. If you would like, you can sacrifice a swarm charge to heal your servant, giving it your choice of 50 HP or 5*Vit roll HP. This cannot be undone and requires that rat swarm's action, not your Servant's. Does that seem agreeable?

Yes. Gonna hold off on doing it though. Gonna want more rats before I go buffing my servant for combat!
Let's have a look around the casino with the servant

Fair enough! So speaking rats and Casino, gotcha!
