You've been awarded 3 CCPs for winning a battle! Make sure to note it down! Daytime Phase day 9. You return from yet another successful battle with a ton of loot to show for it, albeit with far more limited supplies than you had before. While you may not need it now that your old instincts seem to have kicked in again, it never hurts to come prepared for the job. The question is, do you need information, or tools right now? Hmm… You wake up, still feeling refreshed from your previous fights, completely clear-headed and still able to peer through the news. (Yet another nat 20 for your int check! May wanna invest those IPs!) What do you do for your daytime phase? (edited)

Walter chuckles at the newspaper as he's pouring his morning coffee, but his expression darkens as he realizes that the target on his back is not going away anytime soon. Settling down at the table with toast and eggs he ponders what to do for the day After some deliberation he swears as his coffee stains his favourite bathrobe. He tosses it in the washer, takes off his slippers and head to the workshop. (Today's task is crafting more bleed rounds)

As Walter heads off to the workshop he hears some creaking from the floor above. He doesn't think too much about it, when suddenly the entire house collapses right on top of him! (Walter takes 100 damage and successfully triggers Last Chance! Walter is now in critical condition and the Base is broken. Can be fixed in about 1 phase worth of actions.) Crawling up from the debris and looking over the situation, Walter is blinded by a flash. He hears someone say "What a scoop!" And before he can react, the man who apparently took the picture has already left the scene. (edited)

Nighttime Phase day 9. After the devastating daytime encounter where your entire base collapsed upon you, you retreat to the warehouse sub-district of Cassava Point, where you had a stash located for emergencies. You drink the health potion and are invigorated. You also smash the skill crystals in your rage, getting more and more buff with each use. You are now ready to kick some serious ass. What do you do for your nighttime phase?

Seeing as the magical treasure handed out was well worth the effort, Walter decides to head after it again. Now there are two options: Either there's free cache of magical trinkets waiting for him. Alternatively there will be a target rich environment, a prime opportunity to thin out the opposition (btw, silencer on sniper rifle and pistol, don't want to draw more attention than I have to)

But no assassin preforms well on an empty stomach, so Walter swings by Greasy Joe's for a proper burger before heading to the scene, seeing as he's already in the area (edited)

Walter swings by Greasy Joe's down at Evan's Place. A quaint little place with about 3 small booths and 8 barchairs placed under a counter against the window. The place isn't exactly bustling with customers, but there are a fair amount of them, each larger than the last. Seems like Joe has a very particular clientele, to which Walter certainly doesn't fit the bill. Nonetheless he is welcomed by the owner, if you'd call it that! "'Ey, welcome to Greasy Joe's, what can I do for ya?" The man says in a clearly foreign accent. Out of everyone there, he is definitely one of the largest. He's got a dark mustache that connects with his goatee. He's wearing a white, though stained chef's hat and a formerly white apron with multiple stains. Upon looking up and noticing you he says: "'Ey, you nuu in town? Joe'll take good care of ya. What do you want?" The menu has 5 images of burgers, clearly the specials, and a list to the right with a variety of other options if none of the specials are to your liking. In ascending order, there's the "Greasy Surprise", "Greasy Joe's Special" and "Papa Jon". In addition there's the "Greased Fire" (spicy) and the "Abuelita" (veg). (edited)

Walter gives Joe a smile an nod as he is greeted before his eyes wander off to the menue. "Yeah I moved here a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still getting to know the city" he says as his eyes browse the items on the menue, longing his gaze on one of them "I'll have one of those Greasy Joe's specials. 'S been a while since I had a proper burger"

"Ya sure ya can handle that?" He says with a smile on his face before continuing. "My burgers are the real deal. Not like one of dem 'Big Muc's. Tiny little burgers. I'll whip you one up, but I hate it when my customers don' eat up. So wasteful!" He says as he waddles over to the cooking area.

"Heh, then ya came to the right place!" He says as he takes 6 large burger patties and throws them on the stove. "Yeah, well, dey've been bette'. But I've got good, loyal custome's who knows Joe can cook real burgers, so it's been a'right. Dam' shame about the town though. Shit's really gone downhill since those rich schmucks decided to wipe their boots on us hard-workin' lower classes..." You can tell he seems to be getting a bit upset but catches himself and reins it in. "But, sorry, didn't mean to bring politics into all this. So you said ya were from out of town? Picked a hell'uva time to show up! Business or pleasure, if ya don' mind me askin'?" (edited)

"Don't worry about it Joe" Walter says with an understanding smile "All hell seems to have broken loose, I'm just glad we're all still around" "Well, I was lookin' for a place to settle down after the old wife left me, but it seems like the world is trying to ruin my life in her stead." He says and shrugs "But all in all it ain't that bad"

"Yeah, well, we're not all still around, are we? Lost way too many 'o my friends to that dam' plague. Not to mention my cuz' got shot in the riots, or so I 'eard." Joe sighs heavily as the burger patties are sizzling, before flipping them over and putting a weight on them. "Really hope the town can recover from all 'dis." Upon hearing about your story, he responds "Sorry to hear that. By th' sounds of it, you and I got a similar tale." He says, ponderously, before following up with: "Got any kids?" (edited)

Walter listens quietly as the chef speaks, humming in agreement Taken off guard by Joe's question, Walter relives his son's last moments. He bites down hard, and slowly but firmly places his arms on the counter to keep himself from shaking. "He's with his mother." He says in an almost steady voice, after composing himself for a few seconds "He's with her" he adds with a steadier voice, and a weak smile

Completely oblivious to Walter's true statement, Joe lifts the weights off the burgers, inspecting them while replying: "Yup, same here. Took both o' our kids and the house, too. Practically ran me out the country. Had to come to Maineral to live with my cuz' 'til I got back on my feet and opened up this place!" He says, turning to Walter with a prideful smile, before noticing Walter's facial expression. "Oh, uh, didn't mean to bring up any painful memories or nuttin'. But it's as they say, it gets better o'er time. Ya get used to it and sorta move on, ya know? Tell ya what, burgers are almost done, ye'll feel better once ya've had the famous 'Greasy Joe's Special'! What kinda drinks do ya like?"

"Don't worry about it" Walter says with a dismissive hand gesture, as he does his best to cheer up "If you have any cranberry juice, I'll have some of that." Walter chuckles a bit to himself "You know, sometimes when Harry didn't eat what my wife put on the table, I'd take him for a walk after dinner. We'd always sneak to this burger joint a few blocks down, Sloppy Sully's. Every time he'd have a cheese burger without pickles and I'd take a double bacon, and we'd both have a cranberry juice. At this point, Walter is practically beaming with joy "Used to be our little secret"

"Oh, the Sloppy Sully's? That joint is practically legendary! Been there ma'self once when I was doin' a bit o' travellin'. Wouldn't quite put it at top ten, but i's a pretty good joint! Real good meat on 'dem burgers, but a bit small for my taste!" He says with a belly laugh. "But sounds nice. Hopefully yer wife will give ya some time with the kid. Deserve to be with his Pa'." He looks back at the stove, throws some burger buns on it for a brief moment, just to give them some color, then scoops it all up and assembles the burger. "Ya want everything on that? Technically the 'Greasy Joe's Special' is just the meat, sauce, bread and cheeze, but we occasionally get some o' dem grasseaters, and hey, you want that, more power to ya!" He says with a joking smile.

"Everythin', coming right up!" Joe says and dresses the burger to the size of two fists stacked on top of each other. He then fills a large glass of cranberry juice and walks around to your side of the counter. "Where will ya be sittin'?" He asks. There's still the open booth and a couple of seats by the window on the bar chairs.

"Jus' a sec." Joe says, as he waddles behind the counter, pours up a glass of some beverage and comes back with a drink for himself. He takes a seat on the other side of the booth opposite from Walter and lets out a relaxed sigh. "Well, ain't ya gonna 'ave a bite?" He says, gesturing to the burger that is drizzling in grease. 2 layers of burgers for every layer of bread. A marvel to behold, and also seemingly quite difficult to eat. He looks at Walter expectantly.

Walter's mouth waters as the burger is placed in front of him, and eagerly grips the monster of a burger. Without spilling he takes a big bite out of the burger, and as he chews a single tear rolls down his cheek "Dish ish" gulp "This is the best damn burger. I've ever had, in my entire life. And I. Mean that" he manages to get out as he's wolfing down the humongous pile of grease and meat. Even though his mouth is average in size, he manages to eat the burger surprisingly well, pausing only to drink from his large glass of juice. It's obvious that he has had a lot of practice

"Heh, glad to hear ya liked it! At first I thought ya looked like one of them featherweights, but I can tell ya have a big appetite! Ya should join one of our eatin' competitions! Might no' win, but it's a lot 'o fun!" He says with a loud belly laugh.
